I’ve been promising for weeks and weeks to get our site up and running, and it’s finally here! Better late than never, right? Now that I’ve started, it’s quickly becoming an obsession. I’ve been up way too late on several occasions trying to work out the bugs. Now I’m on a mission to organize years worth of digital photos (don’t worry, I’m starting with the most current and working my way back, so you won’t have to wait years to see what we’ve been up to on this trip). Check in again soon–I have several quirky French things that I hope to blog about. Enjoy!!
Hi Lisa and gang,
We are enjoying the photos and stories. When you mentioned “quirky French”, I have been wondering about what kind of pots and pans that you found in your furnished home for cooking. I have imagined LeCruset, and cast iron, and the whole Julia Child kitchen from the movie Julia and Julie. How different has it been to prepare meals in Aix compared to Raleigh??
What are you planning for Thanksgiving? Jackson will seem huge when you see him!
Keep Safe!
Marti
Hi Marti! Thanks for your message. We have a few LeCruset-type things, but mostly it’s stainless and non-stick, the same as home. The biggest difference is that I can’t always find the ingredients I’m used to, so lots of substitutions. I think I miss black beans the most! The kids LOVE that I can now make a pretty good crepe, savory or sweet. Since I’ve mastered the controls on the stove and the Celsius to Fahrenheit conversion, it’s not been too difficult. I’m not sure yet if we’ll go for the traditional Thanksgiving meal or not. . . I’ll let you know. I know Jackson’s going to have changed a ton, and we can’t wait to see him again. Say hello to everyone from us!
Lisa

Lisa and family! First off I have to say I’m so jealous, what a wonderful experience for your beautiful children. Thanks for the website and I will follow you and family on your next journey! Happy Thanksgiving, will you be eating Turkey? 🙂
Oh, wow, Lisa! What an amazing experience you guys must be having. I LOVE seeing all the photos of the food, the animals, the buildings, the scenery, your crew, etc! Keep posting! You guys are missed at Wiley, but I am super-jealous of your adventures. Ann
Such amazing photos of such amazing places (and adorable kids)! Hope you continue to have a great time and can’t wait to hear all about it in-person before too long.
